Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes on the latest primetime series of GMA-7, Ang Babaeng Hinugot Sa Aking Tadyang, that after the comics novel of Carlo J. Caparas also made that movie in early’80s. Comparing the two former telenovela on Kapuso network Marimar and Dyesebel, the roles are more mature now which Marian as Proserfina, a mysterious woman, and Dingdong as Homer, a businessman with no color in life.

On the presscon of Ang Babaeng Hinugot Sa Aking Tadyang last thursday, January 29, on Studio 5 ng GMA Network Center, Marian explains her character, na which first done by Vivian Velez in the movie.

“Besides of being somewhat sexy, my character was mysterious” said by Marian in the beginning. “Sometimes I appear instantly, I disappear, I sleep in other houses, you know. It’s like that you don’t know really who she or what is her character. The sudden shift of character of Proserfina was amazing. Her mind was troubled on the circumstances.”

Because of the complex role that she have, was she having a hard time on her characterization?

“At first it was difficult because I don’t know wjat style will I do for Direk,” Admitted Marian. “So, me ad direk communicated with each other one-on-one with ‘this is Proserfina,’ This is her weakness, ‘this will make her strong,’ these are the things that will make her happy. So, Direk Joyce and I had an agreement that, ‘this should be the character, your mind should be unstable , you are mysterious. When said something, sometimes you mean what you say and sometime you don’t.Then you will crack a joke, then after that you will become serious. ‘

“If that was a true story, Proserfina was not like that, she does’t have a sense of humor. It’s like, always direct to the point, suddenly lost. So, we put on her a little comedy.”

Based on the pilot episode that the entertainment press witnessed on the specific presscon of Ang Babaeng Hinugot Sa Aking Tadyang, you can say that the telenovela was tailor-made for Marian and Dingdong . Dingdong is considered as prim and proper and from the rich families, while si Marian is “kikay” and “pagka-jerk”. Question of PEP, was is not the soap opera was intentionally created for them?

“You can never tell!” said Marian. “It was created for a long time’ The story was very beautiful. But original script was changed. Because Proserfina does not joke; only sexy and flirting. So, we had the idea with Direk Joyce that, ‘Oh, let us mix it with kikay-like, with your comedy style.’ Even with kissing, it is balanced with a little comedy.”
